Family Involvement
District-Level
We have several opportunities for you to be involved in your child's education at VUSD and we welcome you.
-
Develop and lead fun, enriching, and safe after-school activities. Contact Brett Loring at [email protected].
-
Participate in one of our LCAP stakeholder meetings (held each spring) - check the District events calendar for dates, times and locations.
-
Join a District Committee (Curriculum & Instruction, Safety, Technology, and Attendance/Well Being) are all options. These meetings are open to the public and posted on our upcoming events calendar.
School-Level
Please consider the following opportunities to get involved:
-
Become a regular classroom volunteer. First, reach out to your child's teacher about what they need. Next visit the school office to grab a volunteer packet.
-
Chaperone on a field trip. Reach out to your child's teacher about what they need.
-
Share your passion or expertise. Perhaps you love art, music, or science, or perhaps you have an interesting career that you'd be willing to share. Reach out to your child's teacher about what they need.
-
Present what it means to be a leader in your field to our students in Student Leadership. Contact the school secretary for more details.
-
Join School Site Council. Reach out to your school principal.
-
Take on a supporting role with our Parents' Club. Reach out to the school office for contact information.
Parents Clubs
Hazel Fischer Parents Club's desire is to encourage the well-rounded growth of our children though assemblies, field trips, clothing and food drives, community events and much more. We support our teachers and administrators to ensure they can do their jobs to the best of their abilities.
The Michelson Parents Club is a group of parents with a common purpose, to make AME the best it can be. They fundraise throughout the school year in order to fund many things like a music program, art program, field trips, and so much more. They create a budget, and as a board along with parent volunteers, execute on the various projects throughout the year.
School Site Council
School site council is an elected group of teachers, students, and parents that join the Principal to develop the school plan for student achievement, analyze school data, and review/evaluate school improvement programs. Each school has its own school site council.
It's a great way to get to know other parents, your student's school, and your student's principal.
There are usually four meetings a school year.
Please reach out to your student's school site for more information on how to get involved.
