About VUSD
Welcome to Vallecito Union School District!
General Information
The Vallecito Union School District is composed of two TK-5 schools and one 6-8 middle school. Together, these schools house our TK-8 population of approximately 590 students.
District-wide test scores are consistently the highest in the county. Hazel Fischer Elementary, Michelson Elementary, and Avery Middle Schools have been named California Distinguished and Gold Ribbon Schools. Avery Middle School also received the Apple Distinguished School Award four years in a row.

Our Community
The Vallecito Union School District is located in the southeastern portion of Calaveras County. The District includes Vallecito (its namesake), the historic town of Murphys, the resort and retirement community of Arnold, the majestic Calaveras Big Trees State Park, and the Bear Valley ski resort.
The VUSD community consists of several family recreational areas, fine restaurants, and award-winning vineyards. Visitors are also drawn to our community because of challenging golf courses, abundant opportunities to visit historic sites, wonderful art galleries, and quaint shops.
